About Boat Recycle
Boat Recycle is a joint initiative between Boatshed and Responsible Boat Disposal, created to help owners of older or project boats give their beloved vessels a new lease of life.
No boat should be forgotten or left unloved. Boat Recycle steps in to prevent this by offering a dedicated platform for project boats and sustainable solutions for their future.
Are you finding your boat too old for your local broker? Not sure what to do with an inherited vessel? We’ll help you find the right solution:
- Auction sale via the Boatshed Recycle platform – ideal for larger project boats. This option takes longer to process but offers the potential to raise funds for the owner. The cost is £500 or a 20% sales commission, whatever is larger. An emergency take over may also be available.
- Rehoming – we’ll find a new enthusiast willing to take on the boat free of charge and restore her. This is a relatively quick process (around two weeks) with minimal hassle for the owner. The total cost is £250.
- Responsible disposal/scrapping – the fastest but also the most costly option, suitable for unsalvageable boats. In most areas, the cost is £400 per tonne (minimum one tonne), plus transportation to our yard.
We believe that transparency is one of the most important factors to obtain happy sellers and buyers. We will personally visit your boat to record all the details and information, as well as take detailed photographs and videos. The listing online will be transparent and a true reflection of your boat whilst keeping you as a seller anonymous.
Our huge database, holds historic pricing data which assists us with valuations and finding the right buyer for your boat.
We will manage all customer enquiries, questions and requests for information and will keep you fully informed at all times.
Viewings are accompanied and we relay all offers to you for your consideration.
All monies are placed in a secure Client account. We handle the sale from start to finish, keeping you informed throughout. Including all paperwork.

We take our own pictures and videos, so you can see the up to date information and full inventory of each boat.
